Palettes are the blueprints and fossils of paintings. They act as ancestors, connecting paintings that were made from the same color palette. Palettes also act as artifacts; they contain unconsciously created marks antithetic to the intentional marks on paintings. Saving them is one way of illuminating unconscious movements and desires.
